Mandela Washington Fellows - Closing Ceremony
On Friday, July 29th, Cambridge College hosted a closing closing ceremony for the 2016 Mandela Washington Fellows. The Fellows were hosted by Cambridge College for a six week experiental learning program in the business and Entrepreneurship Institute. The program included academic sessions, site visits, leadership workshops, commumity service activities, networking opportunities, and civic and cultural experiences that expanded their knowledge about U.S. approaches to business, entrepreneurship and networking. Congressman Joseph Kennedy III addressed the Fellows before they left for the Presidential Summit in Washington, D.C. featuring a Town Hall with President Obama, and other networking and panel discussions with U.S. leaders.
The Mandela Washington Fellowship is the flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) and embodies President Obama's commitment to invest in the future of Africa. A total of 1,000 Fellows were selected from a pool of over 49,000 applicants. Cambridge College was honored to host twenty-five inspiring leaders from several countries of the Sub-Saharan Africa.
